After your anti-wrinkle treatment, there may be mild tenderness, swelling and bruising at the injection sites. If the upper face was treated, you may also experience a headache. These are expected side effects and should resolve within the next few days.
Important aftercare instructions include:
- Avoid lying down for the next 4 hours
- For the next 24 hours:
- Avoid touching or rubbing the treated areas
- Avoid high intensity exercise
- Avoid alcohol
- Avoid oil-based make-up and active ingredient skincare (ie. retinoids, vitamin C, AHA)
- You may contract the muscles in the treated area as much as you like
- Avoid facial treatments (including waxing, facials, chemical peels, skin needling, IPL, laser) for a minimum of 2 weeks
- Avoid blood thinning medication (ie. aspirin or ibuprofen) for 7 days, unless medically necessary
- The onset of action is usually seen from 1 to 5 days after treatment. Full effect is seen at 2 weeks after treatment. It is recommended to attend a review at this time to assess the outcome.
- The effect should start to wear off at 3 months after treatment.
